For over 100 years, Alpha Sigma Tau has held an active presence at universities and colleges across the country. From its very beginnings in 1899 to today, the purpose of Alpha Sigma Tau has been to promote the ethical, cultural, and social development of its members and members have maintained high standards of scholarship, friendship, and social grace.
Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority was founded in 1899. In 1987, the Gamma Gamma chapter at The University of West Alabama was founded. To this day, our sisters pride ourselves on being Active, Self-Reliant, and Trustworthy.
Alpha Sigma Tau sisters are all diverse individuals who pride ourselves on five core values: Graciousness, Respect, Intellect, Connections, and Excellence. We believe these five core values empower our women and sisters to excel in life.
Among the sisters of Alpha Sigma Tau, you will find teachers, artists, historians, dancers, musicians, free-spirits, and even aspiring doctors. The bond that our sisters share is so unique because we acknowledge and adore every sister for being herself.
The sisters of Alpha Sigma Tau exemplify individuality in more ways than one. We do not discriminate on the basis or race, religion, disability, national origin, or sexual orientation. Each and every Alpha Sigma Tau at The University of West Alabama welcomes women of all backgrounds and lifestyles with open arms. New Members are chosen according to Academics, Leadership Potential, and Character.
Alpha Sigma Tau strives to improve the life quality of our members by engaging in campus and off campus activities. All sisters are encouraged to spend time with one another, this assist in developing our family of sisters and what some have come to call home while at a university.
